The eQSO main website is closed to new registrations.
eQSO have closed their website to stop further downloads after their software key based registration system was compromised.
The eQSO registration system, which uses a software key matched to the users callsign and password, has apparently been compromised due to a software hack. The website quotes...
"eQSO registration was compromised by people hacking the software, so there is no registration and no download of software."For existing users the advice on their website at the moment is to visit the
eqso forum where I guess you will be manually added as an authorised user. Please remember that this is a hobby and the system is run by volunteers, so please be patient.
I'm sure the guys at eQSO will get a revised registration system up an running soon. This would be a good opportunity for the guys to solve the problems that some users have been having with the registration process. For instance, proper validation of the users email address before asking for a licence upload. The process has not been revised for several years and cracked versions of the software have been available on the net for some time.
Although I don't use eQSO now for our gateway systems I am a big fan of the conference server based approach that eQSO provided, as it makes for a better radio experience with overall usage of radio so low. But the recent growth in usage of the conference servers on Echolink has made Echolink comparable, but with the added advantage of effective DTMF control. For me this makes it the best choice for permanent RF to RF gateways and repeaters.
